Sea Breeze With a Waft of Disappointment:How would I rate Sea Breeze? Well I wouldn’t. I have never been so embarrassed and insulted at the same time. The staff were extremely rude, and the manager took the cake. They are not kid friendly, and also completely not willing to accommodate them either. So much so that when we asked for an extra chair to be added to the head of the table for my son, the manager refused. I checked, but no, their website does not state that they are not kid friendly, and I mean, they welcomed us with open arms, kid and all. So surely there shouldn’t be a problem? So there I was, eating my hake and chips, with my son on my lap. A hake that was fried, not grilled like I would have liked, because the waitress and manager refused to correct the order after a mistake that the waitress made. My bad experience at this restaurant is a pity as the fish was really great. So please give my respects to the chef, but unfortunately Sea Breeze will not be seeing me and my friends and family again.
Bree Street has been the location of some of the more interesting restaurants in Cape Town not the least of which is SeaBreeze. I think the chef there knows how to bring the most out any type of seafood they prepare. And what you can be sure of is that the completely fresh and tasty portion will not be overwhelmed by some boring sauce. To me that is the key to cooking seafood correctly; start with fresh fish and then don’t loose the delicate flavor with a strong sauce. Tonight is my last night Cape Town and I will eat at SeaBreeze on the way to the airport.
Really cool little spot, and not massively expensive. I haven’t had a bad meal here, and the oysters are divine. The waiting staff are great! Knowledgable, friendly, quick and consistent. The manager is a bit all over the place, and good luck on getting him to answer the phone for a reservation. We eventually took a chance to see if they had space and were told (after trying to call all afternoon on two consecutive days) “sorry you need to make a reservation” he really is the only bad thing about the restaurant. When he pulled out his phone to show he hadn’t missed a call it looked like a badly run call centre dashboard. Make an online reservation a day in advance. If you like oysters, go early because they have a daily oyster special (half price between certain hours).
Nicely decorated restaurant. Can tell the staff are professionally trained with good service. Ordered the squid ink pasta with prawn and 4 oysters. Food was good. The pasta was fresh n yum. Just the menu option, they don’t have many line fish to choose from except tuna and hake.
