31 (now known as Cocoon) is one of the few formal nightclubs in Cape Town. The views are breathtaking and the decor is nicely done too. As regulars, we get treated extremely well. However, there is always a very random crowd which also doesn’t fill up all the space in the club. It’s almost as if it doesn’t have a specific market or even kind of music, so sometimes it feels a bit disjointed. We still always go back though, because the staff are great and its easy to have a good time there.
I guess you could say we visit 31 quite often. In the past more than as of late. I guess it’s because Cape Town night life has so much to offer and as the days go by trendier spots are opening. I find the service at 31 to be a bit to inconsistent. You can have great nights with friendly hostess’s to awful hostess’s who make you want to walk out. The music is good but it does need to change up a bit and maybe get newer Dj’s.
Their service was far less than excellent and and their manners were insulting. Travelling South Africa this has been by far our worst excursion. My wife got told her cute little lady backpack cross handbag was not Gucci enough by a male security guard. And the area is less than safe, with no offer of car safety and security. I would never go there again and have my wife treated like a lesser human being.
I honestly expected more from thirty one. Being on the thirty first floor can only guarantee you a great view. The staff were very friendly and helpful however it is small and gets quite crowded over the weekend. Drinks are quite expensive and if you haven’t booked a table there’s not many seating options.
