Came here a couple of months ago for the Mother’s Day afternoon tea. It was absolutely amazing. The tea included bubbly on arrival, an array of savouries on a tiered stand brought to our table and then a buffet of sweat treats. Would definitely recommend.
Try the evening tea ( 6-7.30) which is served to your table. Very generous combination of fine savoury finger snacks and delicious deserts. Beautifully prepared and of the highest standard. Add a tea from the wide choice and the charming service , surrounded by the ambience of the Mount Nelson , and you in for a treat. Great for a celebration or a bit of decadence and worth the money .
Went for an afternoon tea with some of my girl friends and it was the perfect treat! I was impressed with their wide variety of tea selection (for a tea drinker like me, it was quite exciting!). Of course, the Mount Nelson is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and respectful (the waiter even helped take some great photos of us). I enjoyed feeling like a princess for the day!
We went for a nice cup of coffee and scones and sat outside in the garden. They have an amazing tea selection and I enjoyed the mount nelson blend. We got 3 scones for R80 or so and I was very disappointed by them. They tasted more like rolls than like the delicious, crumbly scones you’d expect for that price. The jam, cream and cheese all tasted cheap too. What I’d expect from a very basic restaurant, not somewhere as famous as the Mount Nelson.
