Disappointed with greek mussel starter in tomato soup with thawed mussels having boiling tomatoes soup poured over them with some grated cheese on (top of shells were cold means not freshly steamed saldanha mussels). Main course yellow tail miserable sized portion. My partner had the jambalaya which was a decent sized portion and tasted very nice. And two bottles of white wine. Came to R840-00. Bit much and would have been saved with fresh steamed mussels and a decent sized piece of fish and more than one shredded potatoes sized portion of chips – they were nice but why so few??? This was second try of them. This time lunch time with only 2 tables and same chef and lovely manageress or owner. I think when they dont ask how your food was they know they are over charging you.
Miller’s Thumb is a quirky restaurant with a great ambiance. The highlight though is the great tasting food. I had a tuna which was cooked to perfection and the dessert was just divine. I would recommend this to anyone in Cape Town and looking for a fine dining experience that isn’t necessarily uptight.
Miller’s Thumb is my favorite restaurant in all the world. Solly and Jane are superb hosts and their staff are treated as family. Solly’s dishes are legendary and the Cajum Rump with Algarve sauce would be my choice of last meal if given the ultimatum.
Great fish options and great service! I can see all that all the staff take pride in their establishment Unfortunately the mozambican curry was a bit bland- very sweet and lacked some spice. Prices are are in the tourist margin as well.
