I ordered the pasta with Asparagus. I could have ordered a plain carbonara instead – that is what it tasted like. The pancetta looked a lot like plain Bacon that was cooked instead of fried and I had to ask about the Asparagus because it was difficult to see. On the up side they brought me a side plate of Asparagus.
Panzanella salad
Went to the Gardens branch and found it to be rather sparse in decor. The silver extractor tube above the pizza oven is not attractive.Be warned that parking is a problem.Three out of five meals (pizzas) were OK, but the Mexican pizza is a mess, with the topping sliding off.Unfortunately, the service was indifferent.Possibly because the 10% tip is included on the bill.
Beautiful little quaint authentic Italian restaurant. We had been at another Italian restaurant and were disappointed by the menu and didn’t order, we then decided to come and eat at Nonna Linas instead and I am so glad. We shared the gnocchi and a margarita pizza and it was so overwhelmingly delicious. So impressed.
We went to Nonna Lina last month for my birthday meal (while my family was here from overseas). Birthday meals as REALLY special to me, seeing as I love food so much I would rather have a really good meal as my present. Seeing as Italian cuisine is my cuisine of choice – all day every day – this seemed like the ideal place to stuff my face on my special day and, spoiler alert, I wasn’t wrong. When we got to Nonna Lina it was super busy – which is always a good sign – and you could smell all kinds of delish aromas coming from the kitchen. We were seated at a lovely table near to door, ordered some wine and had a good look at the menu. This process took a while, considering there are SO many options on the menu and I am SO very indecisive. However, we decided on a few starters – Caprese salad (obvs), Aubergine parmigiana and Selvaggia – all of which were incredible. Each and every dish was flavourful, fresh and delicious, with every mouthful better than the one before. Next up, we all chose a main course, mine being the Ravioli (baby spinach, wild herb and ricotta parcels) with my old faithful the Tomatello sauce. Now, I have said over and over and over again that the best tomato based sauce I have EVER had in my life was at a little Italian restaurant in Blackpool and, since that night, I have been searching high and low for one that would rival it and one close enough I could go there every time I wanted/needed a good ol’ tomato based pasta and, well, I bloody-well found it. I cannot explain how good it was, you literally have to get your bum in the car and head there yourself. The pasta, filling and sauce were INCREDIBLE, and I ate the entire bowl, fitting in every single morsel – which says a lot about me and my tiny tummy. Unfortunately, due to being stuffed, we only had a Kalhua Don Pedro for dessert, but that too was nothing short of delicious and the perfect way to finish off our meal. All in all, I’ll be back (lots) Nonna Lina. You have made all my Italian foodie dreams come true!
