Went to Ricks for a birthday dinner and it was just so average. Most of the table ordered burgers or falafel pitas and while the portion size of food is big, the taste is lacking. The service wasn’t great, we had to beg for everything; from drink top ups to enough menus for the table and waited around 30mins for the bill and a further 15 to pay. Don’t think I’ll be back, there are plenty of better restaurants in the area.
Found this restaurant after a long evening of trying to get into any place on kloof’s nek. As someone with a severe gluten allergy, I did not expect much. However, the hostess (with short blonde hair) was so sweet and accommodating that she made sure there was an option available to me and ensured the correct cooking procedures were followed so that I did not have an allergic reaction when she could have simply turned me away given all the hassle. Our waitress was comical and very polite and added to the overall experience. The decor is eclectic and warm adding to an intimate feel. Ultimately, this was an outstanding hidden gem!
Nice place, cool vibe. The seating is a little too cozy, but ok. Service is poor. The food is pretty good – we had a burger with rave reviews, fish and chips which was average at best, nice fish cakes, good lamb kofta and good chicken bruschetta. Overall ok, but I won’t be back. There are too many much better options in the area
