Tried their Crayfish Curry lunch special with roti (R160), which included a free starter (I chose potato samoosas). I ordered via Orderin and because of a R50 discount I just paid R110, but even at that price it wasn’t worth it at all. – Extremely small portion size. It only had 3 small crayfish tails (probably from very young crayfish) with their shell still on. Hardly any crayfish ‘meat’. This was like a starter-size portion. – The little crayfish meat I did eat was overcooked. – Hardly any gravy at all! I love curries that have loads of gravy, this however, was very dry. – The flavor of the curry was ok. I asked them to make it hot, but it was still quite mild. – The filling of the potato samoosas tasted nice and spicy, but the pastry was very soft, and had no crunch at all. Definitly won’t be trying this place out again!
Waited close to an hour only to receive butter chicken that tasted awful, the meat was dry and tasted very unusual. The sauce tasted sour and was nothing close to what one would typically expect of a butter chicken. Funny enough, my boyfriend got food poisoning after eating their tandoori chicken. As soon as I took my first bite, we asked for a doggy bag (which we later gave away) and left disgusted!
Went expecting “The Best Durban Style Curry in Cape Town”Thoroughly disappointed! Butter chicken tasted like pasta sauce with pieces of meat in it which weren’t even distinguishable as chicken by taste or appearance! The tandoori chicken was dry and seemingly cooked in a microwave. The portion sizes were tiny, cutlery was dirty and we waited for over 40 minutes for our food with only 4 customers in the restaurant in total.
It’s basic. The menu is simple. But I come here for the lamb bunny chow. Do yourself a favour. Visit in summer and sit outside. Order a drink and enjoy the quiet Dunkley Square in the middle of Cape Town.
