Ohana makes vegan croissants!!! They. Are. Delicious. They’re almond croissants, and they’re perfectly light and crispy. The cafe can get busy and then service gets a bit frantic, but the setting is soo beautiful, you can just chill out and enjoy yourself.
This quaint and quirky cafe has amazing views of the sea and harbour. However both times that I’ve visited the service has been slow. The fresh juice tasted delicious but it was served warm. No ice blocks either. It’s a fine place to be if you are not in a hurry.
Terrible service. Blonde dude with the dredds should be fired. 20 minutes wait for a coffee. Regulars seem to get served first. Save yourself the trouble and go to any other restaurant down the road. Better food and better service is just a walk away. Cancelled order walked out and no apology offerred by our waiter.
Kalk Bay is such a unique and beautiful little town, it’s only fitting that the restaurants reflect that distinctive atmosphere – and Ohana Café certainly does. Located right by the sea with the famous train tracks running just in front of you, this little restaurant is the perfect place to catch a hearty breakfast before you set out to explore. From the first glance at the menu, you can see they cater for the health-conscious. There are, however, still lovely treats to be enjoyed – such as the cinnamon chocolate sticks, yum! The service was quite alright, it felt slightly on the slow side, and the waitresses’ friendliness didn’t feel very genuine, but the quality of the food made up for it.I had the Eggs Benny, and seeing as Eggs Benedict is my favourite breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised by their variation of the classic Hollandaise sauce (it’s got a bit more of a mustard/curry taste and it was yummy!). The coffee was also of great quality. If you want to start your day in Kalk Bay on a relaxed and happy note, Ohana is the place to be.
Our favourite breakfast hangout. Surfer’s shack style with fantastic baked goods, great coffee and wonderful omelettes. The view of the sea, just over the railway line is astounding.
