The Home Bar has declined sharply in recent years. Charlie, the owner, seems to have lost interest in the food. For example, no desserts are offered anymore. You can’t even get an Irish Coffee after your meal because the coffee machine broke down some years ago and has not been repaired or replaced, despite my frequent requests. The chef apparently changed a while back and is, simply, not as good or consistent as the previous one. This is very disappointing because the Home Bar used to be a place where you could get consistently good home-style dishes, with a few extras on the side, at reasonable prices. The prices have not increased, but the quality has declined. Service is also very basic. It’s now more of an unofficial club for the regular, heavy-smoking drinkers on the other side of the glass.

Lovely warm atmosphere to go for a quick drink to meet up with friends and locals. Truly home away from home. Charlie the owner is also a fantastic host welcoming one with a warm smile and a cold drink.

Unbelievably disappointed. I have been coming here often but don’t think I will come again. Went for dinner this evening for a birthday and ordered the rump espetada – medium. It came practically raw so I sent it back. It came back with only the bottom piece being re-cooked but it was oily and dry. The rest of the espetada was still raw. I asked the waiter to please take it away and was quote surprised to see that it was on the bill when U had barely touched it. Two people at our table ordered medium rare steaks, and both were overcooked. We all left very disappointed. Although we were non – smokers sitting inside the table just outside were all smoking and it was constantly blowing inside. I used to love this restaurant but I am so put off now!!!
Clearly the spot for locals, initially one gets a feeling they don’t enjoy outside visitors, but it warms up eventually, service is reasonable and has a pleasant atmosphere, tiny little spot but gets fairly busy, you have gotta order the frozen tequila shotz, they have got this down to a fine art. Did not done there so cannot comment on food.
