Lovely relaxed cosy atmosphere, very, very good breakfast. Service is also wonderful. Very homely.Visited in the winter months, fireplace added a great ambience. Will be back.
Beautiful setting of the leafy garden, fantastic service and lovely dishes – this place is truly a gem! I had salmon fish cakes which came with a fresh salad, my companion opted for prosciutto ham salad with figs, both were outstanding! Top marks to Source!
Tucked away in a rather shady looking building this casual eatery is not terribly inviting at first glance. Going inside the decor such as it is, is grey and minimalist. ..All a bit stark. However we managed to find a table outside at the back, where a sunny paved garden area has a far more welcoming and rustic feel. A pity about the fixed bench/tables which are more suited to a student pub. All this was made up for and more by a charming and super efficient waitress who seated us and took our order with a big smile. The menu is different and interesting. ..quite a step up from the usual very ordinary boring Hermanus fare. We had the smoked salmon fishcakes with salad and a sourdough open sandwich with camembert, bacon and avo. Everything was beautifully presented and super fresh. The fishcakes themselves were a bit on the bland side and I couldn’t detect any smoked salmon but they were served with a delicious home made mayo and a stunning rocket and tomato salad. The sandwich was equally delicious with generous portions of cheese and avo.Its a pity the decor is a little boring else I would give a 4. But I would definitely go back again for a light lunch with great service.
Excellent. Perhaps someCandles for outside dining in the evening would improve visibility and atmosphere. Otherwise the food is excellent and so is the service. Xxx
My husband and I eat out a lot and I consider us quite difficult to impress. We don’t often hate anything but very seldom am I amazed. The food at Source IS amazing. We ordered the Carpaccio, Duck Spring Rolls and Beef Fillet as well as Creme Brulee and Meringue for dessert. All were interesting, creative and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
