THE EATERY WOOD FIRED GRILL:A FOOD FRENZY FOR YOUR TASTE BUDSEveryone has a favourite hangout and we are no exemption. The Eatery Wood Fired Grill in Belvedere Square is our “go to” restaurant and it never, if ever, disappoints. The staff are always friendly and the food is always good. Except for their vegetarian burger, “The Veganista”. Whatever happened to the huge brown mushroom in place of a patty? Or better still the chickpea and mushroom patty? Beetroot is a side salad or a garnish not a meal on its own, and even though it included quinoa, red kidney beans and barley all you could taste was beetroot.I have recently changed my diet to pesco-vegetarian so the Squid Salad was my choice. Delicious!! What more can I say. Fried squid tubes and tentacles in a mountain of broccoli, tomatoes (I had mushrooms instead) red onion and fried capers. My hubby chose the Managers Special burger which was a chicken fillet with goat’s cheese and avocado. Yummy Deluxe!! We were offered a Pinotage house wine to try and I simply rolled out. Ha ha ha!! I am in a wheelchair.Let’s talk accessibility then. Easy enough as there is a ramp, yet whoever designed the bays for car parking failed to allow space to get your wheelchair to the ramp if the bays are all occupied, so alternative scenario is go to Colcacchio’s in the same complex where there is no accessibility problems. Strike that, rather get one of the sexy waiters to carry you in. I must stress though that this is not The Eatery’s fault, all blame is on the complex management. Another inconvenience is the toilet. As a rule the restaurant itself doesn’t need to cater for the disabled so I am not going to complain. So go to The Eatery and indulge your taste buds in a food frenzy. Sate your thirst on a multitude of grape sins and you will not be sorry…..you will be well looked after by knowledgeable sexy waiters (ours was Keagan)……the next time it could be Armani….or Andre….or Matthew…….crikey did I leave anyone out? The ladies are lovely too but I will leave it up to my hubby to comment. The owner is Marius and is always willing to stop at your table for a chat. This is a family of smiles and great service in a bonhomie atmosphere. We always enjoy ourselves and will return again and again.

When we arrived, the lady infront (must be the manager as she does not wear uniform) was so unfriendly, didn’t greet when bringing our menus. Just put it on table and walked away. We waited so long for our food, yet the people at the table behind us recieved their food within minutes of ordering. (The restaurant was not full). The food was EXTREMELY bland and the sweet potato fries seemed like it was in the freezer for a very long time. We asked the waitress why I food took so long and the people behind us was so quick her response ‘thank you letting us know’. She didn’t even say ‘I’ll inform the manager or kitchen staff’ we will never be returning. Worst experience by far.

The food looked and tasted good! I had the espetada, and it was cooked to perfection, but a little tough. Rump can be sometimes, so I don’t hold it against them.It seemed everyone that dined with me also enjoyed their meals, although no raving reviews were given. It was awesome to get discount from The Entertainer app, so that’s a big plus for those who use it!The atmosphere was okay. It could have been much better had little kids not been stomping up and down the deck all night, but I guess that’s what you get when you’re seated near the play area.Service was good. Overall we had a pleasant evening and our bellies were satisfied.
