We had to sample Cape Malay food in the Bo-Kaap so we visited Biesmiellah. Duncan had the Denning Vleis and I had the Pienang. Both were delicious. I also love the Cape Malay style roti.

I’ve had the best experiences here! It is a genuine warm, welcoming space with fantastic food and a homely feel. I first went to Biesmiellah 10 years ago and have returned a few times since with it being consistently good.

Biesmiellah is a Cape Town STAPLE! I wish I went more than once! The restaurant is an establishment in Bo Kaap area. The Cape Malay cuisine is so unique, the dynamic flavour, the quality ingredients, the cozy atmosphere, and the family like quality of this place is incomparable. A must visit in Capetown!

Just too overhyped. Very average food at high prices. Maybe a good one time visit for cape malay food but keep your expectations really low. We went for lunch and ordered samosas, bobotie and mutton curry. The portions were small to average and the taste was just about passable. Very disappointed after the build up.

I would have given this restaurant a 3.5 if it were possible. The food was pleasant. We ordered tomato breedee and chicken curry. The chicken curry was mild and average- I wouldn’t order it again seeing that I like spicy food. I guess for people who don’t like spice at all it could be a fantastic dish. The chicken was tender and cooked superbly and so was the mutton in the breedee. The tomato breedee was great- would definitely recommend it if you have a sweet tooth and like tomato bredee in general. The place was clean and well kept. Pleasant.
