I have always loved bistrot bizerca! Still delicous food. The beetroot tart is stunning worth trying! The salmon salad has been on this menu for 7 years and is just as amazing as it was then. The salmon is perfectly sliced the ginger and shallots add Flavour and depth to the dish and the goats cheese cuts the richness of the dish! Very obscure venue but a hidden treasure when you sit i. The courtyard!

Bistrot Bizerca is listed as one of the more romantic venues to visit in Cape Town, this was the primary reason for selecting this charming restaurant for date night. Firstly- the staff are fantastic, full of enthusiasm and friendliness! Secondly- wow! The courtyard is cosy and sweet, a bit like being on holiday. Thirdly- the food was blissfully light and tasty. We started with the oysters- delicious and super fresh! For mains,I had the raw Norwegian salmon salad and Michael had the gnocchi, both meals were just perfection. For dessert we shared the lemon tartelette, which had a great tangy taste off set by the light sorbet.I’d definitely recommend this lovely restaurant for a beautiful break away from the busy city life!

What a wonderful meal! Upon arrival I wasn’t very impressed with the service. We were seated at our booked table and there was confusion between the waiters as to who was to be serving us; when we ordered water and sparkling wine for the table, the  one guy kept wanting to only bring it for the person who placed the order. So strange.Eventually we were settled with a designated waiter, some water (that we had to pour ourselves – any other restaurant of this calibre would have poured for us) and menus in front of us. From here on out the meal experience went much smoother. For starters, I had a a baby beetroot tarte fine, which came with gorgonzola on the base of the phyllo pastry. Thin slices of cooked beetroot was layered beautifully on top, with a surprising ball of horseradish and beetroot sorbet on top. Amazing flavour combinations.Main course was the Chalmar beef rump, which was done superbly with bone marrow (so tasty!) and presented on a cauliflower puree. Once again, the combinations worked extremely well together. For dessert I had the special of the day which was a pear tart, as suggested by the waiter. It was good, but it definitely did not even come near to the Lindt chocolate pudding that someone else was having. I have dreams of the deep, dark chocolaty loveliness – and I only had a small taste of each of the three items on the plate. Markedly the star of the three courses, followed very closely by the bone marrow rump.Other dishes on our table included the pan seared gemsbok and linefish (hake) that was served on homemade squid ink tagliatelle. They’re quite expensive, but the menu – which changes every day – speaks of innovation and a lot of thought put into the combinations and presentations.
