After hearing about all the vegan options available at this restaurant I was very excited to go and try it out. The staff were friendly on arrival and the restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a lovely warm ambience. I ordered the vegan burger patty and my partner ordered the lemon chicken with an extra side order of mushroom sauce. The food arrived and the first thing I noticed is that the portions are tiny. The burger was underwhelming and I have had many larger and tastier options at other restaurants. It was also lacking in flavour. My partners mushroom sauce never arrived at all. We then ordered the vegan brownie with turmeric ice cream as a dessert to share. It was tiny! It also was ice cold. I usually have a brownie desert in other restaurants and it is always heated?! It was however delicious. When the bill came, they had charged for the sauce that never arrived as well as another random menu item that we never ordered! Thank goodness we checked the bill. They corrected the bill, we paid and left. I will not be back in a hurry.
On Thursday evening we decided to try Homage for the first time. The atmosphere and decor is absolutely terrific. The menu has enough seemingly delicious options to make you indecisive.Unfortunately our waiter was confused about their specials advertised on their social media and after a few misunderstandings, the manager came to clarify. Paying R150 for 2 plant based meals plus a dessert is definitely a great deal so we opted for that.As a snack we orderee the Broccolli (tasty!) and sweet potatoes fries (more confusion around this as it was more like store bought chips as opposed to fries you’d expect in a restaurant). For mains we all ordered a different plant based meal. Around the table we had the Holy Hummus, Burger, Green Curry, Risotto and La Cacciatora. The Falafel with 2 of the dishes could have done with a bit more flavoring, same with the Burger Pattie. I had the La Cacciatora, an Italian inspired dish, and despite the falafel lacking flavour, the tomato sauce and pesto was delicious. I had a taste of the Green Curry and it was definitely a winner too. Portion sizes was not overwhelming and more to the smaller side. The Vegan Brownie was the downer of the evening. It tasted stale and like cardboard. A bit disappointing to say the least. The ice cream however was creamy and delicious but not enough to smother the brownie taste.Overall the experience could definitely have been better and I would love to go back again to try more dishes off the menu. Even tho the service was friendly, it definitely needs improving.
The ‘fresh from the earth’ plate is one of my fav meals in CT, I crave it all the time. Obsessed! Also tried the vegan brownie for dessert this time which came straight out the oven and was perfect. Already thinking of when I can come back here
Beautiful building. Bright light and spacious, but also cozy, if that’s possible! A Thoughtfully designed haven for fine fresh food. Delicate dishes, plated with pride and care! Great mix of locals and tourists, who love style and food. Forget parking nearby, it’s a walk.
