The Islands Restaurant at The President Hotel in Bantry Bay did not disappoint recently during our stay so I thought that I would share our experience. Location, location:Bantry Bay certainly is a rewarding backdrop for any meal. What’s not to love about a breathtaking sunset complete with infinity pool and sea views? I would recommend so as to make the most of your visit, be sure to request a table outside, if the weather permits. Food:On our first visit, we decided to order several tapas dishes to share and were not disappointed! My top picks of dishes on the evening are the:Forest Mushroom Arancini, Truffle and Parmesan; Steamed Thai Bao Chicken Buns and Spicy Crispy Chicken Sliders.Service:A notable mention to Paul for the service with a smile throughout. Full review to follow but I couldn’t resist sharing a few images for now.. Tried the new Tomahawk Steak & Fries promotion . 500g Sirloin steak on the bone, grilled to perfection and served simply with bernaise sauce and fries. Also includes a free Budweiser beer for the month of May. Service was attentive and waitron very pleasant and capable.
My friend and I tried the restaurant’s buffet breakfast yesterday morning. First of all, the hotel is BEAUTIFUL and the setting with the pool backdrop just adds to the experience. One drawback was that the card machine was not capable of being used so we had to pay with cash (just a heads up to have cash on you if you go there!) We were promptly seated, served tea/coffee and then made our way to the buffet. There is a great selection of food divided into different stations: a cereal and yoghurt section, cold meats and cheese section on the left; a fruit section in the middle and on the right a section for warm foods (beans, mushrooms, roast potatoes, eggs, bacon) and then a toast/pancake/waffle and pastry section. The food all tasted great and we left feeling very satisfied! I was also impressed with the staff at the buffet. They were very friendly, greeted my friend and I warmly and wished us a happy breakfast. Very good meal and service! I would definitely return.
We started off the day with a very good breakfast buffet. I had a delicious omelette made, enjoyed fresh kiwi and passion fruit as well as mini croissants and smoked salmon. We laid by the pool the whole morning and then ordered some great gin cocktails and I ordered tuna tartar as well. The plate looked beautiful but it could have more flavour. No marinade or condiments, only the mayonnaise. Great place to spend a hot summer day if you don’t have a pool.
