Shocker! Food was terrible from the starters to the Mains! Waiters unfortunately powerless to assist in recommending a meal that is even decent! Worst birthday meal EVER!!!
My 2 adult sons and I, who eat out often, went last Sunday and had a fantastic lunch. Ordered mussels, angelfish and ostrich fillet served by a great lady, Quincy, who was knowledgeable and such fun. The sauvignon blanc Aard de Doorn 2019 was absolutely gorgeous, we’ve ordered a case! We’ll definitely be going there again.
Strange experience! I finished my meal and on being asked if the table could be cleared and if I was taking anything away was hurriedly brought a bill I hadn’t yet asked for – was still busy finishing my wine and water – then before I’d even had a chance to look at the bill was brought a speed point. So I asked if the restaurant doesn’t serve dessert or something after a meal (suppose I would have asked for a refill of my wine glass or a coffee even) to question the rush to get me going whileI was still obviously working through a full glass of wine and was told it was a mistake. Found the presumption too decisive to have been a mistake, paid what was on the bill and left the still full glass of wine to the establishment. I wouldn’t recommend it for that reason. When waiters change shifts or are preparing to close they usually warn you upfront and still ask when you’d like the bill. This however was my very first encounter of this nature of service and found it very off putting. Not planning on repeating this experience again but perhaps some training on basic human courtesy could be put to good use here. The food itself I cannot judge just because it was my first time trying springbok and I do not like the texture of the meat, the fillet was cooked perfectly rare and if I wasn’t put off by the texture of the meat (which the restaurant can’t change) I would be comfortable to give the food a separate rating, it just turns out I don’t like springbok, I’m glad I tried it at least!
