First, a romantically terrifying drive to the winelands. The hubby handles the car like a pro, despite occasionally trying to signal with the windshield wipers. The up side? The windshield is super clean so I can get all sorts of cell phone shots of the mountains that flank Franschoek. Look, it’s labeled in white like Hollywood!
This was a while back but it was too good not to share. Words simply cannot describe the incredible time we had at Chamonix. The food was exquisite and the wine was impeccable. We spent more than half a day here. Just being.
Despite good recommendations, we were underwhelmed by our recent visit to Chamonix. It is located on a beautiful hill in Franschhoek but there are no views from the tasting room. The tasting room is a little dark, quite small and rustic with no sense of style or panache. The seating area is cramped up with several tables squashed up next to each other. It seems to be a popular stop for several tour companies though. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the wine. The wines on the other hand was average but didn’t blow my mind.
