Dieu Donné means ‘A Gift from God’ and with this location, I can see where the inspiration came from.Dieu Donné Vineyards has two things that made it stand out for me on the Wine Tram route (apart from its exceptional restaurant Roca):1. Its Flagship award-winning, Merlot.2. The incredible 360 degree views of the Franschhoek and Simonsberg Mountains. *Recommendation: Even if it is just to stop by for sunset and glass of wine, I would highly recommend a visit to these Vineyards during your stay in Franschhoek! Absolutely gorgeous place. The first of 3 wine farm stops. Our waitress was very attentive and made the experience even better. We got a complimentary MCC bottle, whilst we ended up tasting 2 of the wines, a rose and merlot whilst overlooking the beautiful Franschhoek Would love to come back!
The view from Dieu Donne is absolutely breathtaking. What better way than to enjoy a glass of wine watching the magnificent view as far as the eye can see!We sat outside soaking up the beautiful view of Franschhoek with a complimentary glass of MCC Blanc de Blancs to sip on. Very refreshing and smooth. We tried the unwooded and wooded Chardonnay together. The unwooded Chardonnay is soft with lemony undertones whilst the wooded Chardonnay brings out more complex flavours of the wood and is a great wine if you like a good Chardonnay. The Dieu Donne Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and fruity with green pepper aromas and can be enjoyed anytime. The Rosé has a deep colour with delicious flavours of strawberries and raspberries on the palate. The Shiraz is full-bodied and spicy. A perfect wine for winter to enjoy with warm, hearty spicy foods. My favourite was the Merlot with a soft tannin structure with berry fruit flavours. Cabernet Sauvignon is a diverse wine that can be enjoyed with a good steak. It is a full-bodied wine with lots of character that doesn’t disappoint. We ended off with another complimentary MCC. A delicious salmon pink Brut Rosé with hints of strawberry on the palate. We enjoyed a cheese platter to compliment the wines with a selection of cheese, crackers, nuts, olives and strawberries. A lovely winery where you can spend more time enjoying the views, the wines and a wonderful restaurant with delicious food.
Incredible views from their roof top balcony overlooking the whole Franschhoek valley. Superb wines. Bubbly staff that are easy to chat to. Very comfortable seating both indoors and outdoors. Fabulous Rocca restaurant right there too. Will definitely be going back!
Stopped by here on a weekend away. The lovely view of the Franshoek valley was the perfect spot to chill for an hour, enjoy so great wines with a cheese board. We decided to try all the wines on the menu and my favorite was their Cabernet Sauvignon. Full of flavor and smooth. Service is very friendly. Nice that we got to try something little extra and very knowledgeable of their wines. They are on the wine tram route and pretty easy to get to. Worth visit with some friends to chill and enjoy their wines.
