We had the five course surprise menu with wine pairing which was really such a treat! Beautifully presented dishes with a great variety and very tasty with all components working so well together! Staff and service were excellent and loved the cozy dining room with fireplace. Would definitely be back!
Most of you by now will know I do not give praise or high scores lightly. My meal today was a pleasure. Beautifully presented and exquisitely seasoned. The duck breast was perfect and the foie gras delicious. It’s a shame the foie gras was stone cold. The breads and pickled veg on the table were unique and tasty. As was the amuse bouch of a salmon tureen with pickled carrot. The desserts, however, were exceptional. Fantastic flavours with delicate scents and after tastes. A most pleasant delight. The score drops half a point purely because of the foie gras and a lack of knowledge on the waitrons part. The whole meal was a pleasure. I would recommend a visit an I definitely will return.
I wanted to like this place more than I did. The food was fine, the service was superb, and their wine list was really good. I still left, however, feeling a little let down. I wanted the food to shine! I ordered the fish of the day (I believe it was Kingklip but wasn’t memorable enough for me to even be 100% sure) and it was good. Nothing special, but definitely good. It’s on the main road in Franschhoek and has a lovely interior, although it’s a bit stuffy inside. Was really lovely though to be able to see the kitchen from the dining room. The pros: Great service – we were really well taken care of and were a party of 6. The cons: Food is fine, but there are so many other fantastic restaurants in the area i don’t think I’ll be returning to this one.
Tranquil setting. Romantic intimate dining. The food combinations are thought through and perfectly executed. Have the dessert platter, that way you don’t miss out.
