After spending the day perusing, eating and drinking through Franschhoek village, we decided to have dessert here. After speaking to the pâtissier, I decided to order a slice of the chocolate ganache cake (although both the red velvet and carrot cakes looked equally enticing). The chocolate cake was beautiful. Moist, dense chocolate cake with a gorgeous ganache topping. Would recommend this cute cafe as a dessert stop when in Franschhoek.
Drinks are good and cuppachino’s are huge. Was a little disappointed when my bacon and mushroom quiche turned out to be a dry pie base filled with bacon and mushroom sauce. My husband was also sick all night after having the chicken pie.
Had a fabulous breakfast at The Village Tart on a chilly rainy morning – absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Cakes hard to resist. Cosy, gorgeous decor, highly recommended.
Amazing carrot cake. Terrible coffee. Service is also non existent – and the scary part is that we were the only table. Also no ambience / no music. Pity as the place has potential.
