This is the birthplace of the best beer in the world! I have absolutely no idea how you can rate this anything other than a 5. I experienced a childlike happiness from the moment I got in the car to drive here.

So if you are looking for craft beer and a decent larger, you’ll need to come here. They have a fantastic tour through their small brewery showing how their beer is made and then you get to head up stairs for a couple of beers after. I am particular to the Craven larger which is nice and bitter and bloody good cool. I can’t stand a warm beer. They have decent sized stubbies and worth the trip. The Entertainer has vouchers for the tour so check them out.
Stellenbrau Brewery was born in the spirit of brewing the tastiest and most consistent beers in the craft tradition, and establishing the first artisanal beer brewery in Stellenbosch. They make use of time-honoured established traditional craft methods to ensure that only the best quality beers are brewed. Their beer tasting is upstairs in their modern tasting room adjoining the brewery, where you van experience beer crafted differently. It was interesting to know why elements such as flavour, aroma, appearance and mouthfeel play an important role. The beer tasting tour allows you to explore the brewery behind the scenes. Everything gets explained from the equipment to the beer making process and also how different grains and yeasts affect the final product. Stellenbrau creates premium draughts and bottled beer of the highest quality. They produce four signature brews including their flagship Craven Craft Lager. The Jonker’s Weiss is a traditional wheat beer with hints of clove and banana on the palate. The caramel notes of the Alumni brown Ale with a crisp hop finish and the Governor’s Red Lager is infused with Rooibos and Honeybush round up the foursome.Overall a great and fun experience on how the magic happens behind the scenes of craft beer.
