We have visited this wine farm a couple times and their service, wine and cheese boards never disappoint. They make the best cheese and meat platter and is well worth the drive out to Stellenbosch. Their wines are top class and venue stunning. Id definitely recommend paying this gem a visit!
We visited L’Avenir Wine Estate on a very hot summer’s day recently, and found it to be a pleasant, relaxed countryside venue to enjoy a tasting and take advantage of their dam views. Some facts about L’Avenir:It is one of the newer vineyards in Stellenbosch having been established in 1992 by Marc Wiehe, It is known for its Glenrosa soil type (which is great for Pinotage),L’Avenir is all about their flagship Single Block Pinotage and Chenin Blanc!Although this Vineyard has changed hands a few times in the past twenty years or so, and added some French flair, they have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with and a venue not to be missed when in the Stellenbosch area. On our first visit to this gem, accompanied by the winemaker Dirk Coetzee’s Terrier, we chose both the cheese and Carpaccio pairings which were thoroughly enjoyable, but as the Carpaccio pairing is the more unusual of the two pairings, I will share that.. 1. Crocodile Carpaccio paired with the L’Avenir Chenin Blanc. 2. Ostrich Carpaccio paired with L’Avenir Pinotage.  3. Springbok Carpaccio paired with L’Avenir’s own Stellenbosch classic blend. I love a good meaty Carpaccio and as such, I loved this concept! I am, however, not a huge fan of crocodile by any means, so for me that was a course that I would have loved a secondary option for, but the other two were spot on! *Recommendation: The Estate to visit for the Pinotage and Chenin Blanc lovers! For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza
Stellebosch has so much great to offer. Another winner is L’avenir.Popped in for the wine tasting as we were checking out accommodation venues. Nice wines, beautiful venue. So quiet and peaceful. Our server took us to the wine library – usually where private tastings are booked-they weren’t busy so he said we could check it out. It’s amazing
What a treat! Firstly, they are open AND offer tasting on a Sunday (which is rare in Stellenbosch)Secondly, they have 5 different tastings and or pairings to choose from We went for their Carpaccio and Wine Pairing. The first pairing was a Crocodile Carpaccio which was paired with their Chenin Blanc. The Second Carpaccio was Ostrich Carpaccio paired with a Pinotage. The third and final tasting was Springbok Carpaccio paired with their own Stellenbosch Blend. The restaurant/tasting room itself boasts a beautiful view of the mountains and a lake.
