Lynx Wine Estate might be a small wine farm just outside Franschhoek, but they are definitely big on taste. The plan is to remain small so that they can keep producing wonderful wines. The name Lynx came about when workers reported that they had seen the lynx that occasionally visits the farm.We started off with a delicious salmon colour Blanc De Noir made from 100% Merlot grapes. Well balanced with a taste of strawberries on the palate. Definitely one of my favourites. The Viognier is subtle and complex. Layers of fruit and floral on the nose with a delicate taste of spice and oak. Lynx SMV is a rich and intense blend of Shiraz for richness, a rustic Mouvèdre and Viognier to soften the wine for a delicious well structured wine. Lynx Xanache might sounds like it is a blend between Grenache and something, but it is actually a bordeaux blend named after the owner’s daughters – Xan, Anna and Charlie. Elegant with a classic blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. We ended off with a delicious sweet Viognier Golden Lynx. It is a little bit off the beaten track and if you enjoy something other than the typical wine experience, then this place is definitely a must visit.

I’m not much of a Rose fan, but this one wasn’t overly sweet, but had a strawberry and cream taste to it. Service is friendly and really go into depth of their wines and history of the warm. Small quaint wine tasting room but really friendly service.
