Started Mother’s Day off with a wine tasting at Zorgvliet. Our server was wonderful. He even taught me a few French phrases! The warm hospitality made our wine tasting experience exceptionally enjoyable. We sat outside and had a spectacular view of the mountains, horses and the little dam on the estate. We were even allowed to go touch the horses. The wines were a delight. We opted for 3 wines each. All the wines were great. Highly recommend the Simoné. It was my mum’s birthday so our server treated us to an extra wine each and gave my mum a try of their dessert wine. A very intimate and tranquil experience as we were the only people sitting outside. Can’t wait to go back!
Nice drive down the Banghoek Valley on the Helshoogte road, you get Zorgvliet. Great big Cape Dutch style building with very knowledgeable staff. We sat outside on the stoep  under a umbrella with amazing view of the mountains and enjoyed a tasty Cheese board and their selection of wine. If you buy wine you do not pay for the tasting.
The wine tasting at Zorgvliet is wonderful because it’s so quiet and serene. The intimacy it allows in the gardens in summer or the on the couches by the fireplace in winter make this spot a gem. The service is friendly and helpful, the wines are great. I specifically enjoyed the reds and even left with a couple of bottles. You can do a tasting of three or six wines, to choose from a list, but they are more than happy to guide you through it if you’re unsure. We treated to an extra tasting of their dessert wine which was divine.
