We had a really lovely, long Spring day’s lunch at the table with friends. The tables are set beautifully, spaced apart under great big trees. One can take a walk through the veggie garden and there is plenty of place for kids to run and play on the lawn. Service is friendly and relaxed, although it did take us a while to track down our waitress when we eventually wanted to leave, but I guess that’s part of the beauty of The Table-no one is rushing you to leave. The food is served family-style to the table and the menu changes every week. All of the ingredients are sourced from with De Meye or a local supplier. We started off with farm-fresh bread and butter, olives and a puff pasta veggie and goats cheese tart (my favourite). Mains consisted of slow booked beef, baby carrots, chimmichurri sauce, a kale, spinach and broccoli dish (slightly bitter in taste but still good), a leek gratin and a red cabbage slaw. Dessert was individually portioned cheesecake with a dark chocolate bake-delicious. There is more than enough food and it’s a really decadent affair. The price not cheap at R385pp excluding drinks (the rose water cordial is delicious) but it’s worth it for a special afternoon out.
I had such an incredible lunch here with friends. The weather was beautiful and sunny and the food was impeccable. All organic, locally sourced produce – it tastes fresh and flavourful!
The food is down to earth with a farm to table focus, highlighting local farmers and producers. Generous family style meals are served on platters. Everything that passes your lips is ethically sourced from the very best producers. From the free-range happy chickens to the giant courgettes they’ve just pulled out of the garden. The very best part about this restaurant is that after you have sufficiently indulged in all the scrumptious food and wine there are blankets on the lawn for that much needed afternoon nap! Book well in advance.
