The Warwick farm has an amazing picnic setting but the hidden treat is the wine tasting. The “Standard” wine tasting menu has a selection of some of the best light white wines and two of the best red blends I have ever tasted. If you are in the Stellenbosch area and enjoy your wine, the Warwick farm is essential stop.
After a wonderful Zomato Wine Farm Picnic experience, I was quite excited to taste their Wooded Chardonnay called The White Lady due to their high ratings on the Platter’s Guide. It definitely didn’t disappoint!Cabernet Franc normally forms part of a blending component in a Bordeaux style blend so at Warwick it is bottled on its own. A favourite for me! Lovely intense ruby colour with rich aromas of black current and cherries. Their First Lady range is named after the first woman to make wine in South Africa – Norma Ratcliffe. It consists of a lovely unoaked Chardonnay that we enjoyed with our picnic as well as a smooth, intense Cabernet Sauvignon. The Trilogy is a beautiful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Merlot. Full-bodied with intense fruit and mocha flavours. The Blue Lady is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon selected from their top 10 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon. Very well-balanced wine with lots of character. The interesting logo of the Wine Estate is that of a Wedding Cup. It is a chalice from which two people can drink simultaneously without spilling which brings happiness and good fortune. It revolves around Princess Kunigunde who fell in love with a Silversmith. Everything about this place is exceptional in every single way and worth the visit!
So at a Zomato Meet-up we decide to throw in a side tasting. If you have never been Warwick have a wide variety of wines. My personal favorites are the Blue Lady and the White Lady. The Blue Lady is an insanely smooth Cabernet Sauvignon and the White Lady is a lovely wooded Chardonnay. The estate has a lovely lawn where you can have a picnic, which is totally worth it. This place has everything for parents and the kids. Worth the visit with friends and family? Yes. Worth going back again and again? 100% Yes.
