This restaurant in Stellenbosch did not disappoint. I struggled to get parking as Church Street is a busy and trendy dining area in Stellenbosch. It’s café after café and choosing where to dine can be difficult. So I decided to choose a restaurant based on reviews. This restaurant has an enormous amount of 5-star reviews, and I must admit that I was excited when I called to book my table. So regardless of the parking and an almost packed restaurant, my partner and I were seated on a beautiful veranda table. These tables are popular so definitely mention it when you book to ensure a veranda seat. We started with the savory souffle. My oh my. Chef Kyle outdid himself with presentation and flavor sensations. The dish is beautifully presented, and it feels as light as a cloud in your mouth. For Mains, we decided on the pan-seared fish and lamb. The menu reads Pan-seared Norwegian salmon, tomato and red pepper quinoa, steamed prawns Fresh asparagus, sweet corn purée and Braised shoulder of Karoo Lamb (Certified Karoo Meat of Origin) with cumin-infused lamb gravy Potato fondant, creamed beets, roasted baby carrots, grilled courgettes, and red onion. We paired the lamb with a bottle of merlot; Rust en Vrede Estate Vintage 2015. Try it; you will not be disappointed. The two truly brings out the best of each other.We were spoiled for choice on dessert. Don’t be fooled when ordering the Malva Pudding. Helena’s malva pudding is a dessert with a modern heritage twist that should not be missed!The end of our dining experienced called for a small port.Helena’s will always remind me of exceptional service, food with finesse and a wine collection that competes with the best of them!

Seriously amazing service!! Wow! I was very impressed how awesome the staff was! The food was pretty good as well, not amazing though. I would how ever come back just for how cozy the dining area is and how friendly and effective the staff is. Definitely a great choice to come here on a rainy day.
The breakfasts are simple. There is a large variety – cereals, pastries, fruit, cheeses and multiple egg dishes. The environment is formal and quiet. The staff are so friendly and will do anything to assist you . I ordered the gnocchi one day for lunch and it was unbelievable. One of the best gnocchi dishes I’ve ever had.
