I really do enjoy dodgy looking take away joints, but this place was the biggest mistake ever. You wait an eternity for your food to arrive. So while we waited we had the worst samoosas I have ever tasted. I ordered a steak salomi and a chicken salomi and while the actual roti roll was nice I could tell the curry inside it was frozen just by the texture of the potatoes. As for the burger my daughter ordered it was nothing to write home about and the chips were oily. Also managed to find some hairs on a few chips. The next day my daughter and I weren’t feeling too good. Never going back there again.
If you’re looking for decor, atmosphere or sophistication, look elsewhere. But if you want a tasty and thoroughly satisfying, truly local, cheap takeout, order a beef salomi (a wrap filled with a flavoursome Cape Malay curry) at the counter. Good street food.
I do not recommend this takeaway as the food is of poor quality. Tried the Gatsby and it was the first and worst. Many websites recommended this shop, but I think it’s not worth the long wait.
Do go for the samoosas. If you love nice, greasy, deep fried crispy samoosas like I do. It’s the only reason I would stop by after shopping at the nearby Woolworths.
