Food was delicious
This is one of the better chinese restaurants I ate at in Colombo. It has a very large seating, that is broken up in sections so that the place doesnt get very noisy [thoughtful]. The food was nice and tasty and the servings are huge. Small portions were more than sufficient to feed three hungry males. Dont skip on the soup, it is a highlight. Prawns also are a must order.
Visited the renovated flower drum for the first time on an anniversary celebration of a company and I did represent mine from gracing the occasion. This was a small event with around 40 people, and flower drum offers a good setting for such an event. Flower drum is only at the 2nd floor, so I’d not recommend a family gathering with an old person, but goes well for any other crowd. This place does have a good ambience for any occasion and a staff that has been here for ages and knows the menu inside out. I was in early, and they served a hot butter cuttlefish, french fries and deviled chicken with alcohol. As I’m not a person who drinks, didn’t I make full use of the side dishes there. The hot butter gets a special mention here for pulling off the flower-like shape and maintaining a crispy product with a spicy twist. Certainly one of the best! The devilled/roasted chicken was quite exquisite and made me full after about 8 pieces. Later was that I knew about the main course that was due. A delicious special rice, deviled chicken, garlic fish and hot butter mushroom. Everything was upto their old standard and succulent, excluding the hot butter mushroom. That was a major disappointment with some faded off mushrooms in a thin batter. Go for the hot butter cuttlefish here 10/10 times over the mushroom. No idea of the pricing as I was a guest, but on other aspects, good to see that one of my favorite Chinese spots as a child still manages to hold onto those high standards 🙂
This place is my uncles favourite place and then they had moved from their earlier location, he was the most disappointed. Ordered the peppery fish, sweet chicken , rice and noodles. Excellent food and very good portion size as well. Definitely a good place for a group. Service was a bit on the slow side.
