This was my second visit to Whight and Co Cafe on 5 July 2019. I went with a local friend for the very decent English Breakfasts that they do, I find this one of the best places for me to get an authentic English style breakfast anywhere in Colombo. It consisted of local hand made pork sausages, 2; fried eggs, baked beans, 2 rashers of real bacon, grilled tomatoes served with nice toasted bread slices and real butter. As usual because I am greedy I ordered the following side of french fries and hash browns. To go with the breakfast a really nice Mocha Latte. My friend went for the western style breakfast with a Sri Lankan twist, he had scrambled chilli eggs, chilli baked beans, hash browns, and 2 rashers of real bacon he also had toast and butter and side of fries togther with a cappuccino. The restaurant uses authentic Italian made coffee making machines so the taste is authentic and fab. The restaurant is located on marine drive Kolupittiya its efficient but unhurried and polite and professional service. We dined sitting at the window bar style table which has high backed chair stools and you can just gaze out at the sea. Large breakfast with extra sides and beverages cost approx 3400 LKR with tax for 2 people. Great place for an early brunch highly recommended will surely visit again soon.
I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive coming to Whight & Co seeing some of the negative reviews. And the outside look didn’t help it much. So I was quite happily surprised. We ordered a Curry Chicken Pie and Seafood Crepes both of which were quite delicious. The potions were big enough to fill without stuffing. The Ice Chocolate and Latte are among the best we’ve had. The staff was friendly and quite helpful, and the ambiance was also quite amicable. The building probably needs a bit of refurbishment/renovation though.
