Had our last dinner in Colombo here after spotting it on some of Zomato’s Collections. We weren’t disappointed! The ambience is great, not too many tables but luckily we managed to get one without a reservation. We ordered the hummus with zaatar, labneh, assorted bread, beef shawarma, kafta, pita chips and fatoush. The beef shawarma was very heavily flavoured and I enjoyed the kafta more that was delicately spiced and highlighted the meat. I would definitely recommend the pita chips, hummus, fatoush and kafta, which is enough for two people, since we packed our leftovers and had them for breakfast. The highlight of the meal has to be the August Mess. Light, sweet, sour and complete.
The recent reviews about this place tempted me to visit here on a Saturday night and man this was no place for disappointment. This restaurant by far is one of the spots with the best ambience. Upon entering the view was actually breathtaking and welcomes you with a unique warmth. It was decorated with candles, flower arrangements and antiques (thanks to Shiro Hana next door I believe) and eventhough it was not a big area, the space was wisely used. The restaurant specialises in Arabic cuisine and hence we were quite new to the Arabic food culture we went with the fan favorites which were pitta bread, hummus and falafel. Also prior to making the order for mains we ordered two glasses of mint tea which turned out to be quite delicious. We liked the falafel but hummus was not really for our taste buds. For those Arabic cuisine newbies like my self, hummus is a cold served chickpea dish which is more of a dip for the pita bread and falafel was simply like masala වඩේ (wadai) with a minchy sambol interior. I felt like hummus was too plain for our Sri Lankan spice craving taste buds but Falafel was a pretty good. The overall experience was amazing due to the unique ambience and I would definitely recommend the restaurant for a romantic getaway. The price was reasonable and I will definitely pay more visits once I familiarise my self with the Arabic menu.P.s: the menu in the August page need to change as they have a slightly different one now.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The place is not only absolutely wonderful with its soft dim lighting that takes you to yester years, the food is master crafted by the chef in the most delectable Mediterranean style possible! Loved every dish and every dip in the dish! It’s one-of-a-kind experience and you must go for it! We had the mezze meat sharing platter and the Panna Cotta for dessert. It’s not your everyday dinner you get here, nor is it just another restaurant for dining out, it’s much more!
Me and my friend decided to try out this place because we were looking for a place with good middle Eastern food. The night we went it was raining heavily unfortunately so we couldn’t sit outside. However, the place had a lovely ambience, had a candlelit dinner. The food was also really great, we grew up in UAE so we had high expectations and everything met out expectations. The dessert portions however were a less for the price and we were abit disappointed with that. The waiters were super nice and friendly.Overall, enjoyed the place and the food.
This restaurant truly reminds me of the Secret Garden. It is nestled in greenery in the midst of a concrete jungle. This is right next to Shirohana Petal Guru is Rajagiriya. It’s like you’re entering a different world and is a wonderful place for a date night. The hummus was amazing and I highly recommend it. The food was delicious and rich with flavour. The chocolate tart was so rich and gooey and I suggest you try it. The price was a bit exorbitant because the dishes weren’t huge. It cost about about 9000 for two people so if price is no issue then I suggest you try this place at least once.
