Taking inspiration from the Tiki bar movement of the past with an undertone of black magic, Kava moves away from the traditional formalities of the Colombo bar scene, into an immersive Island bar & restaurant with a relaxed dress code and an affordable food & beverage offering. Brought to you by the same team behind the super slick Baillie St Merchants, Conde Nasts 2019 choice Sugar Beach & ever popular Sugar Bistro, Kava aims to bridge the gap between the formal bar scene and day time beach hang out, taking the place of 41 Sugar at the infamous Maitland Crescent rooftop location but with a fresh, tropical flare. Traditionally served as a ceremonial drink in the Pacific island during rituals, Kava unites groups of people together and is said to connect the drinker to the underworld with a stimulating effect, raising spirits into the night. Bringing the same intentions to Colombo, this Tiki noir experience promotes a relaxed atmosphere during the late afternoon.
