‘ When you hungry Dosai will keep you alive ‘ 😀 . One of a often visiting place for my low budget night supper. This is a fair and average place .. for me the place is only about eating the dosai and ulundu wade till you feel you will not hungry for another week 🙂 .
The location of the restaurant is fantastic. Overseeing the Cinnamon gardens. The place is pure veg but it gets a doubt in your mind coz the adjacent wall has a non veg restaurant which seems co-owned by Malar’s. As the kitchen is open and everything seemed to be perfectly vegetarian we settled down to have a quick snack.I ordered for paper plain dosa and onion dosa. The dosas and chutney both tasted above average. I would’ve given 3 stars had the place been clean. The plates were not cleaned properly and just water dipped. The water was just as it is on the plates. There was chutney spilled on the chairs and table. The place is darshini kind and hence there is nothing to look for in the ambience. In spite of the place not being very clean the place was crowded with family crowd. The staff is quick enough with the service.
I had a quick paper dosai from here and it was very very cheap and did taste good, specially the curries they give you. In addition you could watch while they make it. Loud and very crowded inside but I guess that is a part of the experience 🙂 ideal for a very quick bite or take away food.
To a customer’s heart is thru his tummy – these guys know it well. We land there starved, with a bad headache. And they serve hot hot sambhar loaded with pulses. I lost myself there. With idlis, masala dosa and oothapam, I already had hit Chennai. Who said Tamils died in Srilanka? This store is alive with south Indian food. Then comes the chutney (green and orange specifically) and vada – brilliance indeed. And the lassi was the perfect cherry on the cake.Service was lightning quick. I could see the happiness in the wanting to serve us quickly.Ambience – well, its a middle-class restaurant. No air-conditioning nor any cushioned chairs but no complaints. Summer lunches can make it tough though. But that ain’t a thing I can rate them down for.Location – jus bang on! No complaints. Overseeing the Cinnamon gardens, it was jus a pleasure to eat here.A well said bye to Colombo. I ll be back soon.
