This is definitely an old hotel however it is a hotel with character & charm. The ambiance oozing from this grand dining room overlooking the port is from another time & place. The food, especially the curries are just amazing. I enjoyed a mixture of four different curries all had delicate spice mixes. My favorite was the chunky potatoes served with copious amounts of hot sambal. Service is old school & the waiters wear sailors uniforms

The beaches here are clean enough felt like staying here for long timeGrand Oriental : this was our last destination in Sri Lanka the hotel is situated in a busy town called Colombo and it is surrounded by ports the view from the fourth floor was awesome. We felt that we came back in old days .In the crowded city this hotel is situated in the corner the food here was awesome and great service
Other than Desserts other courses were quite good. Lot of vegetarian options as well. Ambience is calm and quiet with a really wonderful pianist who plays some really good numbers.
