Best Koththu spot in Sri Lanka I have ever visited. It seems the hotel is owned by muslims and service is also good may be because the are excellent in marketing and sales.
Located on the Chathem street near Sampath bank. If you come here with the same expectations as Pilawoos Kolpity then my friend you are doing a big mistake. I went there with few friends of mine for a quick lunch. Kottu was not that great here. Short eats were good but not that good. However I really liked the chicken fried rice and the Buriyani my friend had.Place gets really crowded sometimes yet the service is fast, staff is really nice. Typical seating arrangements (tables and chairs)
I have had lunch here twice, the last time being Wednesday 9th September, 2015. Although the meal (Rice and Curry -Fish) was somewhat tasty, the attitude and behaviour of the staff at the Hotel literally killed my appetite making it difficult for me to swallow down my food. While I was having my lunch, a beggar came and asked for some water. Mind you, he asked for WATER and NOT food. The cashier told one of the waiters to bring water and then proceeded to chase away the beggar. Watching this whole scenario unfolding right in front of my table, I couldn’t but feel ashamed of being a Muslim. I’m not in the habit of taking photographs, but this day, I regretted not taking a video of the incident and uploading it on Facebook.Islam requires us to look after the poor. Fate can deal a hard blow to anyone any time, and a rich man can become a poor man in one swift blow. These people were so arrogant and so full of themselves, that instead of feeding this mendicant, they chased him away, because they felt he was bad for business.I would like to tell the owners of this shop, that if you want more customers, you should show people you are human and be charitable. It is easy to earn a reputation, but takes a lot of will power and humility to maintain the reputation. After this incident, I have decided not to encourage these insolents by patronising their place.
