Style, oomph and great food is what the Ministry of Crab is all about. Visited this beautiful restaurant on the last day of our Sri Lanka vacay. It was exactly was I had hoped for and more. Reservation is a must since this place is packed almost all through the day. We ordered clams, prawns and obviously the crab. It looks like a lot when it comes to the table, but trust me the food is really light and so fulfilling. My husband was really looking forward to meeting Kumar Sangakkara, but trust me when I say this, we’ll be back.
We have booked in advance due to the popularity of this restaurant and it was a good idea as there were several groups for lunch. The food was amazing and I would like to try other options but today we tried the pepper crab and the butter soya prawns. It’s an expensive place but it’s also an experience that we will remember. Staff was friendly and attentive.
I visited the place with lot of hopes. However the staff seemed to be very unwelcoming.Secondly, the prices mentioned in the menu on zomato are outdated. The prices of all the dishes are extremely expensive. I understand that restaurant carries the name of superstar cricketers Mahela and Sangakkara, however still I found the prices to be far expensive and didn’t feel worth paying that much for the experience I got.Food was good.I would rate the experience 3/5.
Simply put- bad service. I went for lunch with my husband and his family and one of the family members was not allowed to have lunch because he was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt. It was absolutely ridiculous because there were many females including myself who were wearing sleeveless tops. When we asked them why they discriminate the males they had no answer and simply said that it was the rule. Also, when we asked them if a female walks in a bikini they said that it’s fine for females to dine in with bikinis. It’s absolutely ridiculous! There is no logical explanation to this bizarre dress code. In the end, we ended up not having lunch since the family member was told to not have lunch by the manager. Very disappointed with their service- I don’t think I will be going there nor recommending that place to anyone.
All the said the best restaurant in the city and the city tour remains incomplete without checking out this place. Fresh seafood, delicate cooking techniques, amazing taste and excellent ambience. This place has it all. Bow to the owners!!
