Not the greatest of experience. Myself and a colleague of mine were in the vicinity and stopped here for lunch, as we had another appointment within 1 hour in Kollupitiya. Once we stepped in things looked promising with around 18 Chinese natives having lunch. So we went ahead and ordered Fried rice with chicken and salted fish, Prawn in Curry sauce, Chilli Chicken and Potato fries with sour sauce. The rice was bland with chicken and fish literally non-existent. The chilli chicken waa nive although it was oily and salty. The prawn was cooked nice and lacked a bit of seasoning. The potato dish was a big let down. Overall their food needs improvement and some QA. The service was ok, however, there seemed to be aome misunderstanding between the waiters and the chefs. Lots of quarrels could be heard. Serious improvement in food is required to match the price they are charging.

Nice atmosphere in the busy urban kollupitiya. Friendly staff and the service was satisfactory. The food is far below average for this type of restaurant. Though they have a nice take away menu card clearly mentioning about the food items they seem to be failing to provide them. Had my lunch ordered from the place along with few of my friends. The mixed fried rice simply consisted of carrot, Beans and flavorings. It had not even a trace of pork, beef, chicken or cuttlefish mentioned in the menu. There were traces of fish and prawn. The price is too much for this type of food. Simply the place is not very promising when it comes to the food

Huasui is one of the many Chinese restaurants in Colombo which has a nice atmosphere. It is not the best or the most economic restaurant around Kollupitiya, but it is definitely one of the places that you can visit  to grab a fine meal. I haven’t had the opportunity to dine in yet, but I have picked up my lunch from this place several times.Tried the chicken fried rice with fried mushrooms, and I must say it was pretty good. Since they serve warm food, that tastes even better. Anyway the potions are not enough comparing with the prices, since they are way higher. And they take a long time to serve as well. So that’s sort of annoying.

Naoaki’s travails with service weren’t experienced by us when we went to Huasui. We wish that was the extent of the problem with this restaurant, which in fact serves up some of the most bland and boring Chinese food in the city. We ordered a egg fried rice which required a dollop of soy sauce to taste any flavour at all. A hot butter cuttlefish was, well salty. And oily. And nothing much else. A sizzling curry chicken of sorts, once the sizzle had died down, became boring curry chicken, with equal portions of bone and meat and a greater serving of potatoes. It’s almost as if the Chef had an off day (when we walked in on a Monday night, we were the only ones) and was upset at us for having woken him up from his reverie. In terms of ambience, the place is really quite awful. Nothing much to write home about in terms of the main air conditioned restaurant area, and at the back, there’s a lovely open air space which at first glance looks very inviting, esp. on a cool evening. Problem is, the staff’s toilets and entrance to what appeared to be living quarters are in full view of the clientele. Not the kind of view one wants to enjoy when enjoying a meal. Will never go here again.

This Chinese restaurant recently open at the kolpitiya super market in Colombo 3. It took more than 40 minutes being served the first dish. Considering that they might need more training though 40 minutes was unacceptable times, isn’t it?
