There is always a sense of gratification on seeing a ‘Taj’ anywhere outside the frontiers of India. My quest for luxury dining got me to Taj in Colombo, and it was fabulous. Located right on the Galle sea face, the property resembles a castle and the front view is quite intimidating. I personally also wasn’t surprised to see an E63 AMG and an i8 parked outside for the visitors to see. Upon entering, we were guided to the Golden Dragon. The place was populated with Sri Lankan socialites and Diplomats. We first called for a chicken starter and stir fried veggies in a sweet chili sauce. The chicken was a disappointment in terms of taste, but the latter was splendid. The main course consisted of Rice Noodles, Crab Meat soup, a preparation of chicken in oyster sauce, followed by an assortment of desserts which included chocolate spring rolls with a chef-special ice cream, date pan cake and banana pan cake with ice cream. Overall, the food was amazing and would definitely recommend it for anybody who wants to try Chinese cuisine in Sri Lanka.

Last day in Columbo after a seven days new year vacation, couldn’t have asked for a better ending. Even a simple thing like a hot and sour soup done to perfection.My friend was lost in the mango pudding after tofu and mushroom dimsums as I noticed during my cursory glances while gobbling on my golden friend prawns. The food had our complete attention.Special mention and shoutout to Eranda and Kasun who attended to all our requests with utmost courtesy. Their demeanor reminds me of what the name Taj stands for and why we keep coming back to the brand. It feels like home.
Absolutely brilliant. The food , the decor , the hospitality, the location .. Love it and always visit whenever I am in the country .. Had gone this time for a couple of drinks. Tried the pork ribs. They were so crisp.. Yumm
