Visited the place for a drink after a jog at the Urban Wetland Park at around 10.30 a.m. This is a small place with a nice ambience and a friendly staff. Ordered a papaya juice for 150/=; they took about 5 mins to prepare it and it did come in a very tall glass. The juice was well concentrated, not too sweetened and consisted the content of a well ripened fruit. A satisfying experience and a great place to refreshen after a jog, will try out a burger or pasta the next time! (not after a jog ofcourse =D)
The Park Cafe is a cosy nook located around the Wetland Park in Diyawanna Gardens, Nawala.Prices of submarines, wraps and other items are targeted at tourists and items are made to cater to health conscious people. In my opinion the only redeeming factor was the juice. I ordered Papaya juice. It was pure, concentrated and unsweetened and worth the price for Rs. 180.00.An irritating aspect which is catching up with our locals, especially restaurant staff is that they speak with ‘pol katu’ accent as if they were born and bred in a western country. Why can’t these people speak naturally without putting on parts and accents? If they thought the foreigners will think highly of them because they spoke like that, then the joke is on them.
The food isn’t that great, they don’t have much of a selection nor are the portion sizes good for their prices but their BBQ sauce was dilish! Its understandable, since it’s a healthy eating location (well its next to the Nugegoda Valli Park jogging track), they would ideally limit the portions but to charge 500/- for a burger & fries that small is a crime! When it came to the mango juice though it was very much worth the 180/- that was charged when compared to other locations charges for smaller sizes of drinks yet higher prices and less quality. The only other redeeming factor is the place is very cozy with nice lighting especially at night. I feel sorry for the low staff as well, only 2 people but seems not that much crowed come daily. Maybe cos of the higher pricing.
