Ace Pub is a rooftop bar located above the Steam Boat/Naniyori restaurant building in Nawala. It’s got a lovely view of the city at night. The bar belongs to the Steam Boat/Naniyori chain, and we can order-off either of their menus. Men can’t wear shorts and slippers (which is a dampener). Good place to chill.
Ace pub is one of a few rooftop spots you can find if you looking places to hangout out of the heart of Colombo. They have recently refurbished the place so now the place is more like than how it used to be. There the food is not that so great, it just only the average Chinese taste of the steamboat. Due regard service also there is nothing so great or nothing so bad to mention about. I have seen a DJ playing at the weekend, but that was somewhat of sloppy digital music, so for me personally, the DJ part was been somewhat of a mood killer if it was there. Still, they continue to serve outdoor tables with their custom oil lamps and if you are out there for a casual date, sure this may add some vibrancy. If I am putting it all simply this is an average place which has much bigger potential to serve much better. And unlike the others rooftops, where they don’t have that much of a great view. But like how I began, there aren’t many choices for you in the near vicinity. So you gotta hit your trump, Ace.

I had to wait literally almost over 1/2 and hour to receive only the menu.. and the drinks and the food took even longer.. It was kinda frustrating when it came to the anticipation of service.. but the ambiance is super..
Love the rooftop bar for a casual meet up session and even though the location is a bit dodgy they have actually done a pretty decent job with the offering at the rooftop. Also, love the fact that you can get your bites from steam boat below. The money bags and chicken satey make perfect bites. However, be prepared to wait an hour for service
Of all the restaurants and bars that cram into this building (there are no less than 4), Ace Pub is the most upmarket, the sleekest and is positioned as the family friendliest of the lot. This comes with some downsides, most of which I find a little chafing. The restaurant does not open till 6, something quite strictly observed (the rest of the building sleepily stirs itself awake by about 5). There are also dresscode restrictions. Until recently, there was no real difference between the many restaurants besides the ambience; menus were shared among them so you could as easily have sushi from Naniyori or a devilled dish from Blackout or Steamboat.No more.Ace Pub now has their own menu and they discourage ordering from other locations. The menu has a lot of sushi, but some favourites available elsewhere have disappeared.The view is still good, the rooftop is very nice when the weather is good, and service is usually quick and attentive. Cocktails are a unique selling point of this pub in comparison to other premises on site, a bartender does creditable mixes on request.Nevertheless, unless circumstance demand otherwise – I much rather prefer one of the pubs downstairs for greater flexibility in their menu.
