Went there once to have a late lunch with a friend of mine. Had chicken Kottu there and it was ok. Not the best kitty I had bit it was ok and portion was very big, in fact it was big enough for two people. The waiter guy was nice he actually did my customizations with spice and meat.
I am not sure how it got 2 names like Muslim Hotel and Stand View Hotel, but this is very popular place in mount lavinia junction as a 24 hour food place.I have tried a vegetable kottu and they have given chili paste too with it. This is the first time I experience this and seems good combination specially when the kottu is not much spicy. Its tasty, but I felt aginamoto they have put. Place is not seems to be much clean, so I avoid drink any water from them, but order a soft drink. Overall an average experience and can recommend this place for late night meal.
Popularly known as the ‘Stand View Hotel’, this tiny shop is located right across the bus stand on Station Rd. Their menu includes items for all three meals, including rice, noodles and short eats. I’ve only tried their rice dishes, which are quite satisfactory. The portions are large in the lunch packet, and the standard meat and three veggies rule applies. The curries are served generously, and consist of a lot of gravy so you are able to enjoy your meal without the usual dryness. Each curry by itself, is enjoyable. The only negative for me is that most often than not, the curries are not in harmony with each other and therefore throws off the balance of the meal. For example, the other day we were served dhal with a mango curry, dry manioc curry and kos mallum (jack), which did not work at all, so am not a huge fan. However, their biriyani is the typical old school local biriyani, so unlike it’s original, with fried karapincha and onions on top of the grainy yellow rice, served with a piece of roast chicken and boiled egg. Nostalgia central! Back in the day, way before we had proper Indian or Pakistani biriyani readily available and close at hand, which didn’t warrant a trip to a fancy restaurant, this was our only option. And it was fantastic. Still is. I am immensely fond of biriyani in all its forms, and this one in particular is close to my heart.
