For the longest time, this shop remained nameless, known only as the ‘Rathu bath kade’ but they’ve finally decided on a common yet fitting one. The food is extremely good value for money as the prices are rather low considering the quantity you get. It’s flavourful, good home cooking, with the uncommon addition of prawns and cuttlefish with their regular rice and curry. However, if you’re expecting large pieces of fresh seafood to bite into, you’ll be quite disappointed as both these items are the dried and salted variety. It’s still pretty tasty and is usually devilled with onions and chillies, and accompanied by three veg curries. I always opt for red rice since it seems to work better with these. Not a fan of their fried rice though. It’s the basic, local version which can easily be replicated at home.
Recently had a visit to this place and amazed to see the quality they are maintaining. Its a normal bath kade on Galle road, but the crowd suggest they got something special. Few seats available but I decided to do a take away. After on the queue for few minutes, I gave my order, 2 cuttle fish rice. Once person start the packing of my order. There were few like him so the process continue parallel to other customers too. It too around 2 mins for him to complete my order and give.Portion wise its huge and well enough for a build man. Taste wise awesome and it remember my childhood with home cooked food. Its a place you have to try.
