Our restaurant al Lago, in the garden by the lake, is a unique, green oasis on the Piazza of Ascona, with a stupendous view on the Lago Maggiore and the Brissago islands. For lunch we serve a choice of dishes of the day/menus and snacks. During the afternoon you can savour snacks, cakes, ice-creams and coffee/tea. Great veiw and fantastic setting! Service was very slow and not super professional, however the view beats the service!If we would go back again, most probably yes! The restaurant is part of the Schloss hotel and at the end of Ascona lake side stretch!
Can’t think of a better place for lunch on a sunny day – beautiful spot overlooking Lake Maggiore – and the food and wine really were both very good- but you sure pay for the privilege!
we enjoyed our dinner of coniglio stuffed with olive bread and pork cheeks cooked in delicious dark ale sauce. the food is very good, portion size reasonable, well presented. staff is friendly if a bit stressed during rush hour. we’ll be back for the food.
On the positive side, this place has a beautiful location and helpful staff. But the food was definitely not what you would expect considering the high prices. The portions were small and quite tasteless.
Table in he garden near the lake. Superbe ambiance. Good service and welcoming, delicious menu. A step below from the very top quality but surely deserve a visit
