About
Hiroshima Pizza Story Hiroshima Pizza (Okonomiyaki) became popular during a rice shortage which followed World War II, when flour (merikenko), "American powder", was rationed by the occupation army. Okonomiyaki, translated as "grilled as you like it", spread across Japan and soon different regions became known for their own style of Okonomiyaki. Two well-known styles are the Osaka style and the Hiroshima style. The Osaka style has all the ingredients mixed into the batter and the fried, whereas the Hiroshima style has just the batter and then toppings are layered on top. Okonomiyaki is eaten with a small spatula perfect for stuffing your cheeks with as you enjoy its superb flavor.
