I was introduced to this outfit by way of a staff gathering that my team organised at their erstwhile location – the Bustan Novotel. It was on the lobby level & a bit hard to locate. In their new place, they’ve taken over the famous & long-running Ratsky, that’s been a nightclub fixture in Abu Dhabi for years.I was between residences last month and had the chance to stay at the Capital Hotel Al Diar for over a month, so I visited this place 4 times. The first 2 were so-so (decent service by lady servers, bad Nasi Goreng & Beef Tapa). The 3rd time was marginally better, a great Happy Hour scheme & decent Phad Thai. The 4th (and unfortunately last time), was egregious!The service (or lack, thereof) by a single gentleman and his high-handed approach knocked the daylights out of my team, when we last attempted to gather there for a round of drinks after an intensive two-day training session. After a few failed attempts at having a rational calm discussion with the belligerent server (Anthony), we naturally decided to take our hard-earned money elsewhere and went one level up to the Rock Bottom Cafe, that never disappoints.The funny part was how, when my friend & I ambled back to this place in search of our misplaced belonging, the blissful & clueless manager asks me when I’m planning to have a team get-together here!! Talk about lack of problem escalation!I’m stunned that a company that manages the respectable likes of Victor’s & Dahab can allow such a combative & argumentative customer service representative to be an ambassador for their business. That too, in these tough times! Tsk Tsk Tsk.On a parting note, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development might have a thing or two to say about an offer displayed boldly within store premises & then refused to customers!!
