While in the area, we decided to try this place. The interiors have been done perfectly to match the ‘Desi Theme’. Gives a very nice North Indian vibe! The service is top-notch and very quick.Food is good and worth the price!Would love to visit again to try the Shisha!
Take a pot, add in some outstanding food, exemplary ambiance and courteous service. You get an eatery which is known as Desi Village. Located in Garhoud, this restaurant is set up in a way, which will remind you of a village back home, and it certainly serves as an eye candy. The moment you enter, the stairs you notice will take you to their dining and sheesha area. They have a separate, only dining area too. A tree in the middle, furniture and fixtures neatly set out, this restaurant is well – lit, and definitely commendable. What’s more? They are open 24 hours, and also have live entertainment after 11 pm. I was invited here for a tasting session by Xpressocially.Coming to the food and drinks, we tried out the following:Masala chaas: served in a matki (earthen pot), this drink was just right in consistency, with the perfect amount of spices and was very refreshing.Desi mojito: served chilled, this drink was refreshing and lovely. They also served us a crispy, fried snack with yogurt chutney to begin with, which was yummy.Bhatti ka mushroom: soft, perfectly made discs of mushrooms, were delectable. Their marination was flavourful and mildly spicy. Definitely a must try.Tangdi kulfi: unique and creative, the chicken was served in a glass. The chicken was soft, and the marination was mild and tasty.Paneer taka tak: soft cubes of paneer were cooked in a semi – dry gravy, with sufficient amount of spices and necessary ingredients. This dish was mildly spicy, flavoursome and delicious.Dal Punjabi tadka: yellow dal, cooked to perfection with adequate spices, was appetizing, flavourful and subtly spicy.Lagan ka murg: the gravy was thick in consistency, and the pieces of chicken were soft and well – cooked. This dish was mildly spicy and flavourful.Nalli biryani: long grain, colourful rice, were tossed with moderate spices, making it mildly spicy and flavourful. We were told that the lamb shank they use is fresh, which was soft and tasty.Butter naan and laccha paratha: the breads were thin, soft, freshly prepared and were served warm.Shahi tukda: creamy goodness, this dessert was moist, lush and fairly sweet. We finished the entire plate on a full stomach. Undoubtedly a must try!Gulab jamun: soft and rich, this was sweet and palatable.Thank you Desi Village team for hosting us. Will definitely come back to try other items on the menu soon.
A name so catchy that makes you intrigued and the interiors so Desi that reminds you of old villages in India! @desivillage.dxb is a must visit place for those who’d like to try on exotic dishes with its true essence. The flamboyant cushions and beautiful wall paintings add to the beauty of this place. It is extremely spacious and cosy. It also has a distinct Shisha lounge on the top floor.**We started off with Murg ke Lazeez Tikky which was so scrumptious and had a unique flavour in it. They had also served us a complimentary papdi at the beginning. Next was Awadhi Gosht Dum Biriyani which was yet another stealer. Overall, we would highly recommend this place to enjoy the authentic food along with their desi vibe!*Prices:1. Murg ke Lazeez Tikky – AED 35 for 6 Pieces2. Awadhi Gosht Dum Biriyani – AED 49*P.S.: Though we were told that the biriyani would be enough for two people in quantity, we felt it was not quite filling for the two of us!*
This place definitely gives me all the desi vibes. It’s huge, spacious, vibrant and most importantly has all the “desi elements” like the clay pots, horse, mannequins and seating arrangements depicting the village scenario beautifully. It also has a huge bodh tree (old sacred fig tree) where yogis and baba gained enlightenment in the medieval period. Well, currently it’s used as a prop not only to enhance the beauty of the place but also used as a photo booth where you can get yourself clicked. This place is filled with really vibrant cushions and beautiful murals adorning the wall. For starters, we tried their signature Tangri kulfi which was basically the creamy chicken drumsticks served in cocktail glasses! Well, it’s one of the best dishes you must try if you ever visit the desi village. The second one the list was their dahi ke sholle, where you are served these soft kebabs which are bursting with sweet & spicy curd. If you are a vegetarian, this dish would be an instant hit on the table. Also, we enjoyed the traditional lukhnowi galouti kebab before we dived into the main course. Our main course was some soul food desi food consisting of paneer taka-tak (just the way you would find in any Dhaba at the Indian streets) Chicken biryani (perfect blend of spices) mixed with juicy chicken & bread basket to go with the food. After all this heavenly food, we managed to try two of their famous desserts because no meal is complete unless you end with something sweet. We tried their Royal Shahi Tudka and Gulab Jamun, both the dishes were served in good portion and excelled in their presentation. I absolutely loved the Shahi Tudka, as it was bursting with flavors and Gulab Jamun, was another delight meant for the sweet tooth. Overall, I absolutely loved my desi dining experience and definitely recommending this place to each and every one!
We were invited here for food tasting menu and it was quite good. Interiors are good and service is fast. Staff is helpful and polite. We started with dahi ke sholey which was ok. Then we ordered some juices and the presentation of raspberry juice was very disappointing. Then we had fried vegetable and I liked this. In mains we had mix veg, daal, paneer, biryani and lots of things. Mix veg was like frozen vegetable in tomato gravy and I didn’t like it all. Biryani had way more spices and not tasted good.In dessert we had Shahi tukda which was not like the actual shahi tukda. It was like simple bread, applied sugar less cream. We had brownie with icecream as well which was good. They need to improve their food a lot and we wish that we visit an improved version of this restaurant again.
Few days ago I was dinning here at Desi Village with a friend of mine. The interiors and ambience is beautiful! I totally loved the interiors. Let’s get talking about the food shall we? We were served with munchies are sat, the condiment the munchies served with was really delish. I ordered the Passionfruit slushie cocktail, sadly the drink was nothing like the name, barely had any slush, the juice was more like orange and Passionfruit. And the drink was very watery. Starters – Dahi ke sholay – The dahi on the top was too sweet for a appetizer, probably if it was a little less sweeter it would taste better. It tasted better with the condiments. Gulnar Aloo – I absolutely loved loved this dish, the marination was just perfect, not too spicy and tangy. I would surely suggest you to order this dish! A must have! Mains – Dum Subz Handi – A very bland sabzi, didn’t stay upto the name again, a little more spices and something would taste better. Dal – The dal tasted really good, the flavours were good, a little on the spicer side but tasted amazing. I would surely have it again. Veg Biryani – The biryani had great flavours, the dal and biryani went so well, the spices were on point and overall the Biryani was pretty good. I totally enjoyed it. A must try! Dessert – Shahi Tukda – The tukda were too mushy and soft, where as they’re a little crunchy. The rabdi was alright. Over-all – It was an okay experience, the service was also slow after every dish. The staff was friendly, the ambience was good. They’ve a shisha area on the top, and have heard pretty good things about that. The parking can be a little difficult on the weekends and it’s an A zone.
If you are a person who loves to enjoy your dinner or lunch with a feel of luxurious seating and dining in experience this might be the right place. The food tasted different from the usual style of cooking with a perfect desi touch to it . The kebabs are totally fresh and the most recommended to try at this place . The tandoori items are already in my repeat list . Mojito was not bad . The best part is they do even have a shisha lounge on the top for people who love to spend a lazy night enjoying some of the finest varieties of shisha and some great music playing in the background. And do not leave the place without having there best seller Shahitukda @desivillage
