No Shits and Just Wonderful Irani Kebabs.I visited with family last week and believe me this is hidden gem if you are looking for Authentic Persian Kebabs(Kubideh rocks) at affordable prices.Their Beef and Mutton Kubideh are best in town. Will go again soon.Bill for 5 persons was 120 AED only.
It’s not easy to find, The place is small and more in the old side but the food is amazing. It is like your mom cook at home, specially the daily stew.
I very occasionally get take out from here. Unfortunately every time, it seems a little worse than the last. Yes it is cheap but it is also dissapointing.I much prefer their ash to their kebabs and they make decent dough (laban). Overall: try the ash, especially with lemon its great and their in house laban too. Other items are mediocre at best.
I hear Shamsudin Mohd Ali Ibrahimi was one of the better Iranian restaurants in Dubai some years ago. Walk in and you would be forgiven for disbelieving this – totally. It’s a bit of a dive, and not at all somewhere I would consider walking in to had it not been so highly recommended by my guru of Dubai’s Iranian culinary scene, Mr. Old School Dubai himself.Ignore this place completely unless you are hard core into South Iranian food, and that too only one or two specific dishes. Because even I did not like their Tikeh Masti, which was nowhere close to Ostadi or even Caspian. Nor did I like the Khoresht Bademjan (eggplant stew), which I found bland and watery. In fact nothing sparkled; not the vegetable soup, not the Mast Khiyar (yogurt and cucumber rita), nothing until they served us one of their signature dishes – Ghalieh Mahi, South Iranian Fish Stew. VERY NICE. Ghalieh Mahi is a tangy, slightly spicy fish stew, the sauce of which is made almost entirely out of a blend of fresh, green herbs and tamarind, and of course fish. Indigenous to the South where many of the long-term Iranians of the UAE are from, I find it surprising that this delicious dish isn’t more popular in Dubai. So if you’re in the Satwa area (Shamsudin is just down the road from the original Ravi’s actually) and fancy ethnic, regional Iranian food – try Shamsudin. Ask Mohammad, the restaurant proprietor what the dish of the day is – it will most certainly be something South Iranian. If in doubt, or if you’re simply in an adventurous mood, go ahead and try the Ghalieh Mahi. For me, it made the trip out to Satwa worthwhile. Oh, and also try their ‘Doogh’, the Iranian version of Lassi/Ayran. It’s to die for.
