Spectrum is our family favorite from the time I first came to Dubai in 2003. Yes, it is in a little bylane behind the Gold Souk and is mostly frequented by bachelors. The winner at this hidden gem is the food and the high level of customer service. I studied in Tamil Nadu and the chutney and sambhar available here is a close match to the authentic curries we used to get there. You can eat there to your heart’s content and finish off with the best filter coffee ever and still end up with a bill of less than 100 dhs for a family of four. We have tried many other south Indian restaurants but keep traveling to Deira all the way from Qusais just to eat at this humble cafeteria. Yes, the spelling and the setting may not the best, but the food is absolutely fingerlicking.
