Khao Siam 45 is by far the best Thai restaurant I have visited so far in my life! If there’s anyone out there who is yet to try Thai cuisine, this is the place to go to! Trust me when I say this, this place has it all. The interiors are kept simple, yet lively, there’s some sort of positivity you get as soon as you enter. Of course, this could be mainly because of their manager Ms. Namthip, such a delightful lady! Always smiling, always willing to help. If she is around, make sure you seek her assistance in selecting dishes as per your liking. Also, Ms Minet, who was serving, was extremely polite and kind. Now, let’s get to the food part: Tried two soups, Tom Yam Goong and Tom Kha Gai. The former is basically hot and sour shrimp soup with mushrooms flavoured with lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves, which tasted amazing. I had requested for a spicy soup which would help in soothing my throat as I was down with cold and Ms Namthip suggested this. Perfect choice! The other soup was the chicken Tom Kha soup which was sweet and sour milk based chicken soup with mushrooms flavoured with kaffir lime leaves and galangal herbs. It was delicious! We had the Som Tam Thai salad which was papaya salad with roasted peanuts, chilies and dried prawns. Super spicy probably because of the chilies used, but I couldn’t stop myself from eating! It was so good.Next came the appetiser which was Satay Gai. Chicken satay with peanut sauce, might sound boring?! But please make sure to try this one if you visit this place. It is one among the other must haves! For mains, we had their Gang Phed Nuae which was Thai red curry with coconut milk and beef, served with steamed jasmine rice. The curry had amazing flavours! So unique, in a an extremely good way of course! We had Pad Ka Praow Gai which was stir fried minced chicken with veggies served with rice. This was average, not a fan of this one. We tried the famous Pad Thai Gai, which was stir fried rice noodles with chicken, egg, tofu and tamarind. This is another must have at Khao Siam. Loved it!We ended our food tasting session with mango sticky rice. And boy! What a way to finish our already amazing afternoon! The mango sticky rice was beautiful. This was the only dessert available and that’s perfectly alright because this one will satisfy your sweet tooth! Now, what makes all the dishes here so unique and delightful is the fact that they import their ingredients from Thailand. Yes, all the way from Thailand! The chefs are all from Thailand, and the chef makes sure that all these tasty dishes are made without the use of MSG. NO MSG in their food! Does it get any better??! Thanks for the invite Suren Rajamohan and thanks for having me Khao Siam. Will surely come back here to try the Thai green curry with rice.
Just had some authentic thai cuisine here at khao siam. How can you go wrong when the ingredients are shipped in from Thailand and chefs are from Thailand as well. Located in Business Bay and with some nice non traditional interiors, this is a great place for a business lunch. We had some of the best sticky mango rice(5/5) so far and also loved the Thai Green Chicken Curry(4.5/5), Shrimp Cake(4.5/5) and Thai style omelette(5/5) with chicken. We also tried Poh Pia Phak (4/5, veg spring roll), Gai Tod (4/5, fried chicken)Som Tam Thai (4/5, papaya salad), Tom Yam Goong (3.5/5, hot and sour soup), Gang Phed (4/5, Red curry Shrimp), Pad Kaprao Talay (4/5, spicy stir fried seafood with hot basil), Khao Pad Gai (5/5, Thai style Chicken Fried rice), Pad Thai Gai (5/5, stir fried rice noodles with chicken, tofu, egg and tamarind sauce). In terms of service the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall great experience here..
Follow me on Instagram @scribblesandclicks for more food updates.Craving for Authentic Thai Food? Khao Siam is as authentic as it can get. They get their ingredients from Thailand, what more can a person ask for?So for starters I had:Tod Mun GoongPoh Pia PhakGai TodSom Tam ThaiTom Yam GoongTod Mun Goong is a thai version of a shrimp cake and it was perfectly cooked. The Poh Pia Phak is their version of veg spring roll and for vegetarian’s this is a great option. The spice level is just perfect! Gai Tod was one of my fav starters. It is deep fried chicken wings served with sweet chilli sauce. You can let them chef know your spice levels and they will make it accordingly. Som Tam Thai is one of their authetic papaya salads. The roasted peanuts and dried shrimp in it ofcourse just adds to the flavour. The soup was probably the highlight of my lunch. The Ton Tam Goong – also known as Tom Yum Soup is a hot and sour shrimp soup with mushrooms flavoured with lemongrass and Kaffir lime leaves. I thoroughly enjoyed it.For main course I tried their:Gang Kiew Wan GaiGang PhedPad Kaprao TalayKhai Jiaw GaiKhai Pad GaiPad Thai GaiGaind Kiew Wan Gai is a great option of pesketarians. It is a flavourful sea food red curry which is super delish while the Gang Phed is Thai green curry. Mind you, Thai spice level is really high so do yourself a favour and let the chef know of your spice level, only then can you really enjoy this dish, I had this along with their Khai Pad Gai which is their version of Thai style Chicken Fried rice. If you are on a diet and want to have a guilt free lunch opt for the Pad Kaprao Talay which has stir fried mixed seafood, this dish also has chilli, garlic and basil leaves. Flavourful and yum! If you are looking for the perfect street food experience like me then opt for Pad Thai Gai – It is stir fired rice noodles with chicken, tofu, egg and tamarind sauce. I grew up in a home which had a tamarind tree in the backyard so I literally love anything which has the tamarind flavour in it. This dish gets my 10/10. I also tried their Khai Jiaw Gai which is Thai style omelette with minced chicken, again a great dish to have if you are on one of those healthy diets. The best thing that can ever happen to you here is their dessert and it is guilt free. It has sticky rice with coconut milk which is topped with cut mangoes. PERFECT!Final Verdict: Since the ingredients are from Thailand and the chef is also Thai you will really enjoy this place in case you love Thai cuisine.
