This is one of the hidden gems of Dubai. If you prioritise taste, food, quality, with quantity and price this is probably one of the best places in Dubai. The meat is cooked to perfection, the quality of rice is awesome. The quantity is generous for giants !!Its is traditional Iranian food so they have their yoghurt, tea, dates. They also have the traditional Iranian ice cream. The only drawback is lack of parking and busy street. Strongly advise to take a cab or an uber. Or better yet stroll down to satwa with a shopping plan with a meal. The best part is the salad, soup and traditional tea , which are all complimentary. This restaurant also catees to rake away and parties.I also advise to go for lunch instead of dinner as it is less busy.
One of my favourite holes in the wall. This is a no frills eatery, thats serves some of the tastiest food I have had. Its very very good and its sparkling clean. Staff r friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the fasinjan and grills.
When it comes to food, I like to be a bit adventurous and try new places to eat !! Not very often are you totally blown away by your discoveries and Al Shafaa is one such place. My ever growing love for Persian cuisine especially the kebabs has les me to try out quite a few restaurants in Dubai. In general, I find Hatam, Pars, Iran Zamin, noon o kebab quite decent and have never had a really bad experience. I have a little more time for Special Kebab in Satwa and totally love Ostadi in Bur Dubai. Al Shafaa is in the league of Ostadi !! Its a small outlet with few tables and with a very basic decor – In fact if you want to go for ambience I would suggest that you stay away from Al Shafaa. But if your criteria is food and only food, I insist that you give this place a shot and I am saying this with full confidence only after trying the koubideh, yogurt kebabs and chicken kebab with bone. The owner Mr Ali is a fine gentleman manning the front desk. I mentioned that we just want to try the kebabs and was recommended the mixed kebabs with bread. They served a soup, salad (two types) and yogurt to start things off and quickly followed it up with a small plate of hummus and iranian bread. The soup was thick and very comforting and as soon as it was finished, the kebab platter was out. All three kebabs were chunky, FANTASTIC and really well marinated. I was thinking to myself why nobody talks about this place !! I had asked for some green chilly and chopped onions on the side and the chunks of meat with bread went really well with the crunch of the salad with green chillies. Brilliant stuff !! I topped the meal up with a cup of tea with dates. Really wanted to try the speciality ice cream or falooda but had no space left in the tummy. I silently promised myself to try it the next time and there would definitely be a Next time and a few times after that !! Mark my words – Give this 27 years old, small cozy hidden gem a shot and send me a thank you note later !!Follow me on Instagram @SPICEITUPWITHSAM
We went sultan restaurant in Satwa, we take their sultani kababs with rice and hamoor fish . The hamoor fish was very fresh and tasty.
OLD SCHOOL. This place is definitely for food lovers who appreciate the authenticity of the food rather than lightings and colour of the walls. The owner is always seen at the counter , kitchen and serving. Food is very very authentic. Rice is extremely good quality. Kebabs, specially the mince, are exactly the way they should be. Portion is gigantic and green salads, soup with complementary sides will leave u lazy to leave once done.
Definitely recommended to Iranian kabab & stew lovers. Stews all r really great, if you prefer chicken go to Fesenjaan (fesenjoon) which is a very popular dish in Iran & part of Iraq made from chicken-pomegranate paste-walnut & saffron (strongly recommended), if you like mutton choose ghormesabzi (mutton meat with green chopped herbs & beans) or gheyme bademjaan (mutton meat with fried eggplant in tomato gravy), & for fish lovers go to gheliye mahi stew (fried fish dipped into tamarind paste- chopped coriander & fenugreek leaves-garlic paste). Staff r so good & humble.
